Stark Varg EX vs E-Ride Pro SR : Le Test Qui Change Tout

Stark Varg EX vs E-Ride Pro SR: The Test That Changes Everything

80 horsepower. 125cc approved. These few words are enough to summarize the madness and promise of the Stark Varg EX. After owning and loving the motocross (MX) version, it was time for us to test the enduro version. Is it the ultimate electric motorcycle, capable of doing everything? To find out, we pushed it to its limits, both in motocross and enduro. And our conclusion might surprise you.

The Stark Varg EX: An MX with Turn Signals?

On paper, the Varg EX is an MX with a few key adjustments: a larger capacity battery (7.2 kWh vs. 6.5 kWh on the first MX), Kayaba suspension with a softer enduro setting, and of course, all the homologation gear. Stark has managed the feat of integrating turn signals and license plate holder in a very aesthetic way, preserving the bike's magnificent lines.

In practice, these differences are noticeable. In motocross, the softer suspensions proved surprisingly more comfortable and adapted to our level, absorbing big jumps without ever being brutal. In enduro, the bike remains a powerhouse, but its weight (around 120 kg) is felt in technical sections and narrow singletracks, where maneuverability is king.

The Real Debate: Is the Stark Varg the Bike for You?

The Stark Varg is an exceptional machine, a true "supercar" among off-road motorcycles. But let's be honest: do we really need 80 horsepower to have fun in enduro? Do its weight and price (over €13,000) make it the most relevant choice for the majority of riders? Our comparative group test, alongside a Sur-Ron Ultra Bee and the new E-Ride Pro SR, provided a clear answer.

E-Ride Pro SR: 90% of the Fun for Half the Price?

This is where the comparison becomes cruel for the Varg. The E-Ride Pro SR, with its 25kW (about 34hp), is already a powerhouse. Yet, with its 83 kg, it remains much more agile and playful in winding sections, approaching the "MTB on steroids" feeling that made the Light Bee so successful.

When you put it all together – quality Fastace suspension as standard, oversized brakes, a generous 72V 50Ah battery – the E-Ride Pro SR offers an exceptional "ready-to-ride" package. For around €7500, you get a machine that rivals custom builds costing twice as much in terms of feel, while being lighter and easier for the average rider to exploit than the Stark.

Conclusion: Dream vs. Reality

The Stark Varg EX is and remains a dream bike, an incredible technological showcase. For a high-level rider who primarily races on tracks or fast specials, it is unbeatable. But for the vast majority of us, who are looking for the best compromise between fun, performance, agility, and budget, the conclusion of our test is unequivocal.

The E-Ride Pro SR emerges as the smartest and most rational choice at the moment. It offers a level of performance and original equipment that was unthinkable at this price just a year ago. It's the bike that finally makes very high performance accessible.
