Alsace is undeniably a land of motorcycling. With the Vosges mountains on one side and the Rhine plain on the other, the Grand Est offers an incredible variety of landscapes for off-road enthusiasts. However, regulations are tightening, and noise pollution is becoming less and less tolerated.
At JW SHOP, based near Colmar, we see electric motorcycles (Sur-Ron, Talaria, E-Ride) not as a constraint, but as an opportunity to rediscover our region. Here's our guide to riding locally.
1. Motocross Tracks and Private Estates
Alsace (departments 67 and 68) has several motocross tracks and dynamic associations. The advantage of electric? You're often welcome even during time slots restricted for internal combustion engines.
With a machine like the E-Ride Pro SR (25kW), you have plenty of power to have fun on technical terrains or Pit Bike tracks. Don't hesitate to contact local clubs (Mulhouse, Colmar, or Strasbourg areas) to learn about their access conditions for electric vehicles.
2. Hiking in the Vosges Massif: Respect Above All
This is the ultimate playground: elevation changes, roots, stones. The Vosges are demanding. But be careful, the forest is shared.
Electric is your best ally here. The absolute silence of a belt drive or a well-lubricated chain kit allows you to:
- Not scare wildlife.
- Not disturb hikers (who should always be passed at walking pace!).
- Enjoy nature without noise pollution.
A street-legal motorcycle (like the E-Ride Pro SR in L1e/L3e version) is essential for using roads open to traffic. The "Haut-Rhin" is strict, and riding electric does not exempt you from respecting ONF (National Forest Office) rules. Be exemplary ambassadors!
3. Why is Alsace the Ideal Terrain for Electric?
Unlike the vast plains of central France where top speed (V-Max) is sought, Alsace demands torque and maneuverability.
- Climbs to castles or ridges require watts (which the E-Ride and its 72V deliver instantly).
- Narrow singletracks in the forest require agility (featherweight of 83kg versus 110kg for an internal combustion enduro).
It is for this reason that we have specialized in these machines. They perfectly match the topography of our region.
Need advice or parts in the 68?
Not sure which machine to choose for your terrain? Do you need spare parts (brake pads, enduro tires, belts) available immediately without waiting for a delivery from abroad?
